Our good friend Viking Moses is having a good year! Between His Daytrotter Session & several tour dates opening for DEERTICK, he managed to get a Tribute Album made in his honor by some top notch artists which was recently talked about on Pitchfork.

So we really want to play Bonnaroo this year and for bands like ours who do not have comparable fan numbers to the big boys in the music biz, the options are pretty limited.

Well, here’s one option that we found and we admit it’s a bit crass but we hope that you can see past all that and, frankly, help a brotha out! ;)

It’s a contest called “The Road To Roo” and it’s a considerably painless process. All that you have to do is click this link and it will take you to our voting page for the contest. Then just click “Vote” … pretty simple, right? You can do this once per day, and we absolutely encourage multiple votes per person.

We will not spam you with this because we know how ridiculous it is to be on the receiving end of that. We just wanted to bring it to your attention in hopes that we can make something big happen this summer.

Excellent work guys. This is easily one of the best local records I’ve heard. No pretension, no attempt to “be” something or someone, just honest, creative art. I really hope it gets heard by a wider audience.

Every Other Anthology is a taste of the new record. It’s available to download free of charge on bandcamp.

Classic Beauty was recorded entirely to tape with an old portastudio in my basement. It’s a much older tune that we thought was appropriate to make apart of this release.

(top) The newest of the two was illustrated by Pittsburgh artist, Little Tired while he was listening to our new record on repeat. He actually did a series of great illustrations which we intend to use for future SG merch!

(bottom) The other was designed by Youngstown artist, David Pokrvnak. It is his visual interpretation of the song Young Bygones that is going to be on our new album.

Both shirts were printed by Justin @ Dead Ink Apparel
They were printed on Alternative Apparel’s impeccably responsible Organic Cotton.

I’m currently mastering a compilation entitled: Sunshine Off the Tracks: A Benefit for GEMS. All proceeds will go to support Girls Educational & Mentoring Services. You can find out more about this organization here.

Our music will be featured on this disc and we’re quite excited to be sharing the ether w/ some fine artists from:
K Records, Polyvinyl, Western Vinyl, Primary Records, Lefse Records, Domino, Chemikal Underground, J Dub Records & Misra Records.

The compilation will be available on Compact Disc & Digital Download. It’s due to be released in the warmer months of 2012 via Wild Kindness Records. Stop by their website to keep up with the latest news on this project.

Fellow Epiphysis artist, David Garland just released a wonderful addition to his nearly 3 decade spanning discography. “Conversations With The Cinnamon Skeleton”
It features some serious contributors such as Sean Ono Lennon, Vashti Bunyan & Otto Hauser.

Surely worthy of a gander.

“David Garland has quickly become one of my favorite contemporary composers. Like many great songwriters before him, he pushes the limits of acceptable harmony and dissonance, yet never at the expense of beauty. He is able to take the listener through what might otherwise be quite perplexing musical architecture, and guide them along as if floating effortlessly on a cloud. ‘Conversations with the Cinnamon Skeleton’ is clearly the result of a lifetime spent investigating the relationship between notes and chords and words. The fact that Garland is not more known is an indication that much of the world has forgotten why it is we make and listen to music in the first place. If it’s not possible for popular music to reach the heights of the great classical masters, it seems no one has told David Garland.“
